Egypt pushes for regional pressure to resume talks
The article discusses Egypt's efforts to build a regional and international barrier aimed at pressuring to halt escalation and restore negotiations in the Middle East, especially in light of threats to maritime navigation in the Strait of Hormuz and the Bab el-Mandeb Strait resulting from tensions between the United States and Iran. The article highlights the decline in ship movement through the Strait of Hormuz from 130 to less than 15 over seven months, leading to rising oil prices and a global economic crisis. Egypt emphasizes the necessity of respecting international navigation laws and calls on the international community and the Security Council to take action to ensure freedom of passage. It also advocates for the US and Iranian sides to return to dialogue and reduce escalation, believing that diplomatic solutions are the only way to avoid a potential catastrophe.
