Success of Jabal Al-Saater in Oman
This article's story revolves around the development of a thyme farm in the mountains of the Sultanate of Oman, specifically in Wadi Al-Sahtein in South Al Batinah Governorate. Members of the family have transported and cultivated the seedlings on terraced layouts that mimic the natural mountainous environment. The idea successfully transformed the area into a large agricultural project, cultivating over 100,000 seedlings across more than 8 acres, utilizing modern methods for plant propagation. They employ a technique called air layering to increase production, which reaches approximately 80 kilograms per month, and the product is currently sold in the local market. The project aims to diversify tourism in the region by providing an agricultural exploration experience, with plans to develop the site further by adding a café and a gallery to enhance engagement and attract more visitors. The venture faces challenges such as the scarcity of seeds and the difficulties posed by climate fluctuations.
