Creeslough petrol station plan denied

A planning application for a new petrol station near the site of a deadly explosion in Creeslough, County Donegal, has been overturned by Ireland's planning authority. The explosion, which occurred in October 2022, killed ten people, including children and adults from the village. The decision was made because the land is designated as an amenity area for open space and community use, and approval would have contravened local planning policies. The previous proposal, which included a shop, post office, and fuel facilities, had also been revoked after an earlier appeal by bereaved families.
