US military archbishop urges Catholics to refuse firing squad

The Pentagon plans to livestream the upcoming execution of Nidal Malik Hasan at Fort Hood, which would be the first U.S. military execution by firing squad since 1945. Catholic leaders, including Archbishop Timothy Broglio and others, have criticized the plan, questioning its morality and suggesting religious exemptions for soldiers. The plan has also drawn broad opposition from political and religious figures, with many deeming it barbaric and inappropriate to broadcast such an event.
