Deb Goldberg faces cannabis commission issues

Deborah Goldberg, the Massachusetts state Treasurer, faces a challenging reelection amid controversy stemming from her legal dispute with Shannon O’Brien, a former appointee and cannabis regulator. Her efforts to fire O’Brien and the subsequent legal battles have garnered significant media attention, potentially impacting her campaign. Goldberg, seeking a fourth term, is challenged by Republican Elizabeth Dionne, who has criticized the office’s management, especially regarding the dispute with O’Brien, which Goldberg describes as a distraction. Despite the controversy, Goldberg remains a leading candidate due to her incumbency, name recognition, and campaign resources.
