Saudi Arabia urged to halt Sri Lankan's execution

A Sri Lankan migrant worker faces the death penalty in Saudi Arabia for a Facebook comment considered blasphemous against Islam. The case originated from online disputes linked to a religious controversy during a Hindu pilgrimage, leading to his arrest and initial sentencing to five years in prison and a large fine. An appeal has increased his sentence to death under Sharia law, prompting diplomatic efforts and support from Sri Lankan leaders and religious groups. The family has not received recent updates on his condition, and Saudi authorities have not set an official execution date.
