Southern Lebanon has witnessed repeated Israeli explosions targeting Zawtar al-Sharqiyah, al-Qantara, al-Tayri and the outskirts of other towns, alongside artillery shelling and ground incursions. Two experts say the operations are aimed at establishing a security zone, completing the destruction of villages in ways that would make it difficult for residents to return, and demolishing buildings that could be used for hiding or armed movement. They added that the ongoing operations are also linked to the search for tunnels. They warned that a resumption of ground operations and an expansion of areas under Israeli control remain possible as long as the confrontation has not been resolved through an agreement.
