U.S. Vice President JD Vance blamed the war with Iran for the losses Republicans suffered in the midterm elections. He said voters who backed Donald Trump in 2024 voted for Democrats—not because of low turnout, but in protest against the party’s policies. He outlined four conditions for winning those voters back: ending the war, addressing the high cost of living and inflation, putting American interests first, and changing the nature of the relationship with Israel. Donald Trump Jr. endorsed Vance’s remarks, while Senate Democratic leader Chuck Schumer said Americans want the cost of living to come down and the war to end.
