Midterm elections for Congress have begun in the eastern United States, with polling stations opening in New York, New Jersey, and Virginia. Voters are choosing all 435 members of the House of Representatives and 35 of the Senate’s 100 members. Democrats need four additional House seats to secure a majority, while Republicans must lose no more than three Senate seats to retain control. Sources reported that about 50 million of the 210 million registered voters had already cast their ballots. Democratic control of Congress could allow them to block President Donald Trump’s legislative agenda and investigate his administration.
