China announced that its crewed lunar landing program will use separate rockets to launch the Lanyue lunar lander and the Mengzhou crewed spacecraft, which will then rendezvous and dock in lunar orbit. Astronauts will transfer from Mengzhou to Lanyue to land on the Moon and conduct scientific work. Development of both spacecraft and the Long March-10 rocket is progressing, with key systems tests completed. Wang Xiang added that the plan is suited to China’s capabilities and infrastructure, and that lunar exploration will proceed in stages—from building knowledge and capabilities to making use of the Moon’s resources.
