China’s state television broadcaster blacked out Real Madrid’s match against Racing Santander on Sunday, November 1, 2026. By that point, it had not shown any matches from the 11th round of the Spanish league, after broadcasts of the competition were suspended following Kylian Mbappé’s remarks about former Chinese leader Mao Zedong. Real Madrid’s match was also unavailable on the Migu platform, while other games—including Barcelona versus Deportivo Alavés—were broadcast. Three Chinese companies had ended their contracts with Mbappé despite his apology, while China’s Foreign Ministry said it was taking the apology seriously.
