Al-Qaeda assault kills security officer in Shabwa
Two security personnel from the Yemeni forces were killed, and four others were injured in an attack by Al-Qaeda on a security checkpoint in Shabwa Province, eastern Yemen. The organization's attack targeted a security headquarters in the Maribah Al-Safli district using light and medium weapons. Al-Qaeda members managed to escape aboard SUVs. The organization is accused of exploiting Yemen's deteriorating security situation, which has been plagued by a conflict lasting over 12 years between the government and the Houthis, to escalate its attacks, with alleged collaboration with the Houthi group. Yemeni authorities reaffirm their efforts to enhance security and pursue terrorist elements.
