Ankara: Libya maritime deal safeguards rights
Turkey affirms that the memorandum of understanding signed with Libya in 2019 regarding the delimitation of maritime zones aims to protect legitimate rights and strengthen sovereignty in the region, and does not destabilize the eastern Mediterranean. It added that the agreement has gone through ratification procedures in both countries and is consistent with international law. Turkey is facing misleading attempts aimed at politicizing the issue and turning the region into a conflict zone. It was also noted that the Libyan House of Representatives unanimously approved the memorandum, and Turkey will continue to support peace and stability in the area, rejecting false claims that accuse Ankara of unlawful interference in maritime zones in which it is not a party.
