Trump links data center support to profit sharing
The statements from U.S. President Donald Trump focused on requiring new and large data center companies to give a share of their profits to the host communities hosting these projects, aiming to gain local support. He indicated that this financial agreement helped turn widespread public opposition to data center projects into broad acceptance. The government allocated resources to generate the electricity needed to operate the centers, and excess power was supplied or sold to local communities. These measures are part of efforts to accelerate the development of artificial intelligence technologies in the United States, especially amid competition with China, with support from companies like Anthropic and SpaceX.
