Shviontik misses Ningbo event due to injury
Polish tennis player Iga Swiatek suffered a severe injury to her left thigh, forcing her to withdraw from the Nanchang Chinese tournament, which offers 500 ranking points. The injury occurred after a match in Wuhan that involved intensive thigh treatment, leading her to decide to abstain from competing and focus on recovery, as she has been struggling with a persistent thigh issue for several weeks. This withdrawal impacts her chances of qualifying for the WTA Finals at the end of the season, as she currently sits in ninth place in the qualification standings and is competing for the last spot among players vying for that opportunity. Swiatek is hopeful to return to competition next year.
