U.S. President Donald Trump announced his readiness to hold a trilateral summit with his Russian counterpart Vladimir Putin and Chinese President Xi Jinping in China next month to discuss nuclear disarmament, with the possibility of addressing the war in Ukraine. Although Putin previously proposed a meeting to resolve the conflict, the details of that remain unclear. Despite potential discussions at the APEC summit, American and Ukrainian officials voiced reservations about holding such a meeting without Kyiv's participation, with Ukraine's Foreign Minister stating that such a summit could encourage Putin to continue the war. Trump affirmed that he would do his best to end the conflict, while China, Uzbekistan, and European and Ukrainian stakeholders ruled out any final consensus at this stage.
