Trump backs Netanyahu's re-election
U.S. President Donald Trump expressed his full support for Benjamin Netanyahu's re-election as Prime Minister of Israel, ahead of the parliamentary elections scheduled for October 27, 2026. Trump described Netanyahu as "a great wartime prime minister" and a key partner in the fight against Iran, indicating that Netanyahu's failure to win could force the United States to take on the task itself. This support comes amid strong competition and declining prospects for Netanyahu to form a government with a sufficient majority according to polls.
