War's aftermath visible in Adigrat
Military tensions between Ethiopia and Eritrea are escalating in the Tigray region, especially after Eritrean forces withdrew from the area. The Ethiopian government carried out airstrikes using drones against Eritrean forces stationed in the city of Adigrat and in northern Tigray. The strikes, targeting trucks carrying Eritrean soldiers and mortar shells, resulted in casualties and injuries on both sides, raising the level of escalation in the border conflict between the two countries. Additionally, Ethiopians announced measures including the appointment of a transitional administration in Tigray to organize elections, amidst ongoing military deployments and heightened tensions as both sides seek control over the region—a conflict that has previously caused hundreds of thousands of deaths.
