Syrian Petroleum Chief Resigns Amid Gasoline Scandal
Yusuf Qublaoui's appointment as CEO of the Syrian Petroleum Company has been terminated, and Engineer Maher Khalil Al Hassan has been appointed as his successor. This decision follows the gasoline crisis that failed to meet specifications, which sparked public protests and led to accusations of corruption and poor management, along with investigations revealing irregularities in the procurement and storage of fuel. This move is part of the Syrian government's efforts to restore public trust and improve the management of the energy sector, with an emphasis on strengthening ongoing oversight and transparency of investments. Experts expect that the appointment of Al Hassan will contribute to improved performance and better coordination among government institutions.
