Libya's missing persons threaten stability
The article focused on the suffering of the families of the forcibly disappeared victims in Libya, especially in the city of Tarhouna. It reviewed the efforts of the United Nations and the uncovering of mass graves and crimes committed by the "Kaniyat" militia, including widespread killings and executions from 2013 until the present. The article also addressed the slow pace of justice, issues related to the retrieval and identification of bodies, and the psychological challenges faced by the families due to the mysterious disappearance of their loved ones, while highlighting numerous cases of enforced disappearances and arbitrary arrests in other parts of the country. The piece emphasizes the need for dedicated justice units, the use of modern technologies, compensation for the families, and the urgent necessity to halt forced abductions and ongoing human rights violations.
