Bangladeshi journalist faces assassination
Bangladeshi journalist Lutfuz Zaman Faqir has passed away at the age of 44 after being shot inside a shop in the Dorgapore area north of Bangladesh. This comes more than a year after he narrowly survived a previous assassination attempt. Alif was known for exposing corruption, smuggling, and drug trafficking through his Facebook page, where he shared investigations and video clips about criminal activities in the region. He had faced threats and assaults before and was targeted twice within less than a year, yet authorities did not take effective action against the perpetrators. The International Federation of Journalists condemned the crime, demanding an urgent investigation to identify those responsible and bring them to justice. Meanwhile, authorities continue their efforts to track down the attackers.
