Mauritania Opposition Criticizes Regime
The article discusses the escalating political tension in Mauritania as the anticipated national dialogue approaches. The Justice and Development Party (Tewassol), the largest opposition party, has announced its rejection of a third term, along with restrictions on civil liberties and corruption, organizing a series of protests. Meanwhile, the Prime Minister is touring Nouakchott to visit government projects and implement a plan for the development of the capital, emphasizing the protection of public funds and the fight against corruption. The Alliance of Rescue Forces, which includes opposition parties, criticizes the high level of government spending, which has reached approximately 13.576 billion ouguiyas since 1960, highlighting the lack of achievements commensurate with this level of expenditure and accusing a corrupt wealthy elite of benefiting from the system.
