Aoun: Israeli presence limits Lebanese Army border deployment
Lebanese President Jihad Azour emphasized that the ongoing Israeli presence and increasing tensions in the region hinder the Lebanese Army's deployment along the southern border, in accordance with UN Security Council Resolution 1701. Israel continues its attacks on villages, destruction of lands, and prevents farmers from reaching their properties, while failing to adhere to the provisions of the American-sponsored framework agreement. Lebanon calls for the extension of international presence or the appointment of an alternative that ensures no security vacuum after 2027. The country is also working to strengthen the capabilities of the army and provide the necessary equipment, amid French support for Lebanon's sovereignty and ongoing international cooperation to maintain stability along the border.
