Chinese FM urges Japan to maintain post-WWII order
The Chinese Ministry of Foreign Affairs stated that Japan has no right to reevaluate its commitment to the international order after World War II and its respect for international obligations. Spokeswoman Mao Ning responded to Japanese Prime Minister's remarks indicating the possibility of some officials modifying their positions regarding allowing U.S. ships armed with nuclear weapons to dock in Japan, with the potential exception of non-nuclear principles. China considered that these statements reflect Japan’s ambitions for nuclear armament, noting that such intentions pose a threat to security in Asia and worldwide. China called on Japan to review its military past and adhere to arms reduction treaties. It urged Japan to refrain from nuclear armament and comply with international law, especially as the Japanese government continues efforts to ease nuclear restrictions and enhance military capabilities, actions that China views as a threat to international stability.
