Netanyahu Clarifies Israel's Status
Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu responded to former U.S. President Barack Obama's remarks, in which he stated that Israel "grabbed land from its rightful owners" at its founding. Netanyahu affirmed that the Jewish people have been connected to the land for thousands of years and that Israel is not an occupying force or a colonial project. He clarified that this land is their homeland and part of their history. This response came after Obama warned that Israel's reliance on military and technological superiority could threaten its security, and that the obstacle to peace is not Israel or its right to exist, but rather the refusal of its opponents to recognize the right of the Jewish people to establish an independent state within any borders. He emphasized that true peace requires recognition from all parties.
