Investigation Launched Against Israeli Officials
Italian investigations target 13 Israeli officials, including Defense Minister Yisrael Katz, in connection with the mistreatment of activists from the Global St emergence Fleet who attempted to break the Israeli blockade of Gaza. The charges against them include torture, kidnapping, physical injuries, theft, and other damages, resulting from the interception of activists' boats by Israeli forces in 2025 and 2026. The investigations are based on testimonies from 50 activists, analysis of video footage, and medical reports, and are intertwined with ongoing inquiries by 10 other European countries regarding violations committed against these activists. The operations extended beyond maritime incidents and involved military officials and special unit commanders, with a focus on highlighting the Israeli methods of harsh treatment during interception operations.
