Saudi diplomat: Houthis rejected July talks
It was reported by an official from the Saudi Ministry of Foreign Affairs that Iran is encouraging the recent escalation of attacks carried out by the Houthis, including targeting Riyadh Airport and oil and military sites, which have resulted in the death of at least 19 people. He confirmed that the Kingdom had offered in July to hold a meeting with the Houthis in Oman to end the escalation, but they refused, leading to increased tensions at the Bab el-Mandeb Strait. He explained that Saudi Arabia is maintaining direct communication with Iran and keeps channels open with the Houthis, while Riyadh accuses Tehran of arming and training to support the Houthis, although Iran denies this. He also pointed to the mediation efforts undertaken by Saudi Arabia, which focus on ensuring safe passage through the Strait of Hormuz, criticizing Iran's slow response and its temporary proposals. Meanwhile, Moscow and Beijing oppose Iran's and the Houthis' support, albeit indirectly.
