GCC delays Gulf-European summit over attacks
The Gulf Cooperation Council announced the postponement of the Gulf-European Summit, which was scheduled to be held in Riyadh on October 24, 2026, due to attempts by the Houthis to target Saudi Arabia. These attacks, which included missile and drone strikes on King Khalid Airport, come amid escalating conflict in Yemen between the Yemeni government forces backed by Saudi Arabia and the Houthi rebels supported by Iran. The Saudi-led coalition intercepted several attacks, including a cruise missile and a drone, according to the coalition's spokesperson. These attacks reflect a rise in regional tension, with the coalition emphasizing the importance of maintaining civilian security and affirming that the recent escalation underscores the seriousness of the developments in the region.
