Denmark-Washington Deal Does Not Cover Greenland Exploration
The Danish Ministry of Foreign Affairs confirmed that the agreement signed last month between the United States and Greenland does not grant American investors any special privileges for natural resource exploration, and such activities must be conducted within the framework of Greenland's local laws in the Arctic. Despite Trump's statements about the imminent launch of large-scale oil, gas, and mineral exploration operations in Greenland, the agreement does not address exploration or drilling rights; it was primarily aimed at strengthening the U.S. military presence in the region. The issue of natural resources in Greenland remains a point of contention, especially after the government banned uranium and oil extraction operations. The matter continues to be linked to the island's strategic location and its rich resources.
