Sea Monster in Chile Raises Climate Concerns
Heavy rainfall swept through the Santiago area in Chile as a result of intense rains that caused landslides, leading to the evacuation of residents and injuring at least six people. The amount of rainfall reached 14.4 centimeters, approximately nine times the average for the month, which caused the Mapocho River to flood and prompted evacuation orders. The floods coincided with the strengthening of the El Niño phenomenon, which is expected to reach its peak in December and is expected to be one of the strongest since 1950, increasing the likelihood of more disasters and floods in the region.
