China's consumer inflation nudges higher
Consumer prices in China rose by 0.9% in September 2026 compared to the same month of the previous year, driven by higher energy prices and industrial consumer goods. Meanwhile, food prices decreased by 1.7%. On a monthly basis, the index showed a slight increase of 0.2%, with a slowdown in the growth rate compared to August. The rise in gasoline prices (16.6% annually), industrial goods (1.6% annually), and services (0.8% annually) contributed to the inflation increase, while the decline in food prices limited the overall gain.
