Italy Sicily hurricane causes damage
A rare and violent hurricane struck west of Sicily in Italy, leading to vehicle rollovers, destruction of a house, and damage to buildings. It also caused destruction in the cities of Marsala, Petrusino, and Mazara del Vallo. The hurricane formed as a water tornado over the Mediterranean Sea and then quickly swept ashore. It is the strongest storm ever recorded in the region in recent memory and is attributed to extreme weather linked to the climate crisis. The storm resulted in injuries, shattered windows, and damaged roofs, with authorities remaining on high alert and allocating emergency funds to deal with ongoing storms and heavy rainfall.
