Pakistan Faces Tensions Amid Minister Arrests
It was reported that the Minister of State for Interior Affairs in Pakistan confirmed that former Prime Minister Imran Khan and members of his government are being held in custody following the suspension of government operations amid a state of emergency. Protests have intensified across the country, led by Imran Khan's supporters, due to the difficult economic conditions, which have worsened because of rising fuel and food prices as a result of the wars in the Middle East and Ukraine. The daily lives of Pakistanis have become challenging, and clashes between protesters and security forces have continued after Imran Khan's detention, as he has been held in Rawalpindi Prison since August 2023.
