Libya Teachers' Strikes May Persist

The article focused on the continued teachers' strike in Libya, particularly in the western regions, more than four weeks after the start of the school year scheduled for September 13. The movement insists that students will not return to schools until their main demands are met, which include salary increases, payment of financial differences, the activation of health insurance, and the enforcement of the Teacher Protection Law. In response, the Government of National Unity and the Ministry of Education reaffirmed their efforts to resume classes and uphold students' right to education. Security measures have been taken by the Internal Security Agency to prevent the closure of educational institutions. The events included some understandings with the General Teachers' Union, but the "Teachers' Movement" considers these agreements non-binding. The situation on the ground remains unclear regarding the resumption of classes, despite government commitments, with accusations exchanged between the government, the union, and security agencies over the crisis.
