Iranian traders face war impacts as demand declines
Commercial markets in Iran are facing significant deterioration due to the war and sanctions, with a noticeable decline in demand and a sharp increase in prices. This has led to a marked decrease in sales at shops and bazaars such as the historic Tehran Market. Traders are suffering from the diminished purchasing power of citizens, as the value of the rial has fallen considerably and the costs of goods have risen, causing many businesses to go bankrupt and reducing demand for products, including food and clothing. The primary demands from traders are currency stability and improved economic conditions to enable them to revive their businesses. Meanwhile, Iranian society is experiencing rising inflation and an increase in living costs of up to 90%, with the minimum wage dropping to half of its value from a year ago.
