Trump Criticizes Nobel Peace Prize Laureate
U.S. President Donald Trump rejected the Norwegian Nobel Committee's decision to award the 2026 Nobel Peace Prize to South African Judge Navi Pillay, describing it as "shameful and embarrassing" and saying that the prize has lost its credibility forever. He expressed his belief that he deserved it due to his efforts in resolving eight international conflicts since returning to the White House, emphasizing that the United States was the one truly deserving of the award, represented by him. He also criticized the committee, calling its decision a "stain" on Norway, and stated that he had never heard of Pillay before, expressing his disappointment that the prize went to someone he doesn’t know, despite his appreciation for her work in human rights. Trump's comments came after the announcement of Pillay's win and follow his previous admission that he believed he was deserving of the award, but he doubted that the committee would grant it to him.
