Sudan Drone Attack Kills 30 Civilians
A report stated that a drone targeted a shelter for displaced persons in Abu Shandi in Wad Madani County, in the Blue Nile region of Sudan. The attack resulted in the deaths of 30 civilians and serious injuries to 26 women. The Rapid Support Forces were accused of carrying out the attack, which occurred about 50 kilometers east of the capital, Damsin. The regional government condemned the assault, describing it as a blatant attack and a violation of international laws that prohibit targeting civilians in conflicts. Meanwhile, the Rapid Support Forces have so far declined to comment on the incident. This attack comes amid the ongoing war between the Sudanese army and the Rapid Support Forces that has persisted since April 2023, leading to infrastructure destruction and increasing suffering among the displaced population.
