Global crackdown targets Muslim Brotherhood funding
The new European Parliament decision is based on designating the Muslim Brotherhood as a terrorist organization. It called for its inclusion on the European Union's list of terrorist organizations, targeting its networks, and halting the economic support directed to it. The aim of the resolution is to dismantle the extremist networks and counter the organization's influence. Accompanying measures are also proposed to enhance coordination among European countries to cut off its sources of funding and reduce its role both within Europe and abroad. This directive is believed to reflect Europe's growing concern over the organization's threats to its security and democratic values. It follows similar classifications by Egypt and the United States, with expectations that it will limit the group's mobility, financial mobilization, and organizational capacity.
