Navi Bellaie awarded 2026 Nobel Peace Prize
South African activist Navi Pillay has been announced as the winner of the 2026 Nobel Peace Prize, in recognition of her previous work as High Commissioner for Human Rights and her expertise in law and human rights in general. The Nobel Committee in Oslo is evaluating 287 candidates, including individuals and organizations, and is believed to prefer selecting a humanitarian entity such as the "Emergency Response Rooms" in Sudan, which dedicates its efforts to helping civilians facing war and famine. The award is seen as a means to highlight humanitarian crises, especially the ongoing conflicts in Sudan, and its value is nearing 1.2 million dollars.
