Ethiopia Calls for Eritrean Troop Withdrawal
Ethiopia sent an official message to the United Nations Security Council demanding the immediate withdrawal of Eritrean forces from its territories, warning of the possibility of resorting to self-defense if their presence continues. This comes after Eritrean soldiers were spotted in northern Ethiopia and tensions between the two countries have escalated following the severance of diplomatic relations, amid concerns of an outbreak of open military conflict.
