Florida, Alabama Declare Emergency as Hurricane Isaias Nears
A state of emergency has been declared in Alabama and Florida due to Hurricane Isaac. Strong winds are expected to raise water levels in the Gulf of Mexico by approximately 1.5 to 2.1 meters, threatening coastal flooding and the inundation of roads and facilities along the shoreline. Authorities also anticipate rainfall ranging from 7.5 to 18 centimeters, potentially reaching up to 25 centimeters in some areas, with a risk of flash floods, particularly in southern Alabama and western Florida. It is warned that the highest sea level rise will occur on Friday night when the storm makes landfall, with significant impacts expected on coastal regions through the end of the week.
