Higgins lauds Lincoln after war
U.S. Defense Secretary Ashton H. Carter praised the performance of the USS Abraham Lincoln aircraft carrier crew after their return from the Middle East, where they participated in combat operations lasting over seven months as part of the ongoing war against Iran since February. These operations included carrying out 10,000 sorties and 23,000 flying hours, and the ship was awarded the Presidential Unit Citation. Despite these achievements, challenges arose aboard the carrier, such as suicide attempts and a temporary shortage of food supplies. The crew was exonerated from false claims spread by the media. Additionally, the USS Gerald R. Ford experienced technical issues, including a fire and injuries, during its more than 10 months of deployment.
