NATO-led Nasr-2026 drills in Turkey continue
The ongoing "Nusret-2026" exercises in Turkey, now in their second day, focus on training troops from 24 countries, including NATO allied forces, in mine-clearing operations in İzmir and Zonguldak. The drills aim to enhance cooperation and operational capabilities between naval and air forces, with over 870 personnel participating from multiple nations, including naval and air forces, Underwater Defense Teams, and autonomous vehicles. The exercises include training on planning, executing, and assessing mine clearance operations, and are rooted in a historical legacy related to the mine-laying incident in the Çanakkale Strait in 1915. The exercises are expected to conclude on October 16 after a final performance evaluation.
