India targets 2036 Olympics to boost sports
India is aiming to host the 2036 Olympic Games as part of its plan to establish itself as a global sporting power. Despite challenges such as limited experience in organizing major events and governance issues, India is strengthening its chances by hosting numerous international tournaments since last year, developing sports facilities, and increasing government and private sector investments in sports. Currently, India is submitting its bid to the Evaluating Committee in 2024, with a focus on improving its readiness through anti-doping programs and sports management stability, all to secure the hosting rights and demonstrate its organizational and competitive capabilities.
