Houthis launch new drone and missile strikes on Saudi Arabia
The Houthi movement in Yemen announced the launch of a new wave of attacks using ballistic missiles and drones on Saudi territory. These targeted airports and military facilities in several locations, including King Khalid Airport in Riyadh, Abha Airport, and Khamis Mushait Airbase in Asir, as well as camps in Jizan and Asir. The group confirmed that the attacks resulted in the death and injury of dozens of Saudi soldiers and ignited fires in arms depots, although there has been no official confirmation from the Saudi authorities regarding the damages or any disruption to operations at the affected sites. Additionally, the Houthis claimed to have shot down a Saudi reconnaissance drone of the "CH-4" type in Al-Jawf province. Saudi defenses intercepted a ballistic missile launched by the Houthis toward Riyadh. These attacks come amidst escalating fighting between the Houthis and the Saudi-led coalition along the border, amid worsening security conditions since the conflict in Yemen began in 2014.
