Damascus defendants face trials for crimes against humanity
The article covered the Fourth Criminal Court sessions in Damascus within the framework of transitional justice, where investigation procedures and the trial of suspects accused of committing crimes against humanity and war crimes during the previous Assad regime were completed. The charges against the defendants, including a forensic doctor and an officer in the regime's forces, include premeditated murder, torture leading to death, enforced disappearance, and fraudulent medical reports. The court affirmed that these crimes are classified as war crimes and crimes against humanity, emphasizing that the court is focused on holding accountable those responsible based on the evidence to ensure justice.
