Sa'ar condemns French deputy over Israeli flag display
Israeli Foreign Minister Gidon Sa'ar attacked French-Palestinian Member of Parliament Rima Hassan after accusing her of tearing down the Israeli and European flags at an event commemorating the victims of the October 7, 2023 attacks at the European Parliament. Parliament President Roberta Metsola confirmed that the incident is under investigation by the competent authorities and that legal measures are underway, while Hassan affirmed that tearing down the Israeli flag was intentional and that the European Union flag falling was not deliberate. This incident is considered an escalation in the disagreements over freedom of expression and the mobilization against symbols of the victims.
