Mecca alliance boosts defense against Houthis
The main news covers the signing of a joint defense agreement between Saudi Arabia, Pakistan, and Turkey last August, along with the announcement of the "Mecca Pact," which involves deploying military forces and capabilities in Saudi Arabia to enhance readiness against Iran-backed Houthi threats in Yemen. This came after an emergency meeting in Riyadh, where the three countries decided to immediately implement their defense commitments, focusing on collective deterrence. The Saudi-led coalition also announced its participation in a broad assault against the Houthis in Yemen, utilizing one hundred aircraft and hundreds of airstrikes, with Yemeni forces controlling airports and key areas as part of ongoing military operations aimed at regaining control over Yemeni territories and countering escalation with the Houthis.
