Trump avoids attacking Houthis despite Saudi request
The American reluctance to strike the Houthis despite Saudi requests is due to Central Command's concerns about diverting focus from confronting Iran. Axios reported, citing officials, that the Trump administration prefers supporting intelligence operations and avoiding direct involvement in Yemen, as they view any direct military intervention as a distraction from the Iranian issue. Washington has affirmed that it will not take military action at the moment, offering limited support to Saudi Arabia while leaving the option for military intervention on the table should the situation worsen, amid escalating fighting in Yemen.
