Sofa 53 Extends in Quneitra Israel Continues Drilling
The Israeli forces have resumed the "Sufa 53" project in the southern countryside of Quneitra, where excavation, dredging, and fortification activities have expanded within Syrian territory along a military route adjacent to the Golan Heights. Since its launch in November 2022, the project has included constructing military roads, building earthen barriers, and establishing observation points. These activities have resulted in significant changes across large areas of agricultural land and pastures, damaging approximately 12,000 dunams (about 12 square kilometers) of farmland and grazing areas in the northern and central regions of the province due to excavation and construction operations. The earthen barriers have altered water flow paths, and the collapse of some sections during rainstorms has caused damage to nearby lands and properties. This continuation of threats and military expansion by Israel along the Syrian-Israeli border underscores ongoing tensions in the region.
